STEPTOE, WA – The reopening of iconic Steptoe Butte North of Colfax might be delayed until next month.
The Washington State Park has been closed since February’s flood damaged the site. The Washington State Parks Department kept Steptoe Butte closed following the flooding as the park was already set to shutter last spring for a paving project.
Crews have been repaving the road to the top of the butte since late May. State parks officials in Olympia previously stated the park would reopen in late October.
An update on the agency’s website now says the Steptoe Butte State Park might not reopen until early November.
