PULLMAN, WA – The suspect from last summer’s rolling shooting spree through the Palouse has pleaded guilty to a felony in Idaho.
58-year-old Shawn Johnson of Sequim pleaded guilty as charged to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Nez Perce County Second District Court in Lewiston, Tuesday. Johnson is set to be sentenced in December.
Johnson was arrested by Idaho State Police at the bottom of the Lewiston Hill for shooting at a motorist from his pickup. He was initially found incompetent to stand trial and was treated by the Idaho State Department of Health. Johnson was found competent to stand trial and was bound over on the charge earlier this month.
The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate Johnson for allegedly firing several rounds in Whitman County before he crossed into Idaho. WSP believes that he fired a round near a trooper who had a vehicle pulled over on State Route 26 outside of Colfax. No one was hurt in the rolling shooting spree during the afternoon of August 6.
