Six Idaho Educators Recognized with 2025 Vandal Outstanding Educator Award

MOSCOW, ID – Six Idaho educators will be honored this weekend with the University of Idaho’s 2025 Vandal Outstanding Educator Award, recognizing their commitment to inspiring students and strengthening communities across the state.

The award, presented by U of I’s College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, celebrates K-12 educators nominated by students for their impact on learning and mentorship. Each honoree will be recognized during a halftime ceremony at the Vandal football game on Saturday, October 25, at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Honorees

  • Rebecca Sager, Moscow School District, Moscow – Praised for her compassion and leadership, Sager supported families and students through difficult times, fostering an inclusive and caring environment within her classroom.

  • Monique Jensen, Parma School District, Parma – A teacher and principal, Jensen is known for her approachable leadership and for creating classrooms rooted in curiosity, respect, and community.

  • Doug Richards, Potlatch Junior-Senior High School, Potlatch – With over 25 years in education, Richards has inspired students through his passion for music and now leads as principal, continuing to promote creativity and teamwork.

  • Christopher Johnson, Post Falls High School, Post Falls – A veteran English educator of more than four decades, Johnson has guided hundreds of students through college-level coursework as a dual credit instructor and U of I affiliate faculty member.

  • Chance Wilson, Lowell Scott Middle School, Boise – A longtime teacher, coach, and mentor, Wilson teaches math, coding, and pre-engineering while encouraging confidence and perseverance in his students.

  • Jeanette Humphreys, VandalQUEST Program, Moscow – Through U of I’s VandalQUEST program, Humphreys has empowered students to rediscover their potential through compassionate, individualized support.

 

The Vandal Outstanding Educator Award is part of the university’s effort to honor exceptional educators who embody the values of dedication, empathy, and lifelong learning.
