PULLMAN, WA – Washington State University has opened the fall 2025 CougStarter campaign, featuring a record 37 student groups from all five campuses. The organizations aim to raise $85,150 by November 12 to support student-led projects that strengthen learning, community engagement, and professional growth.
CougStarter, managed by the WSU Foundation, provides coaching and tools to help students promote their own fundraising efforts. This season’s campaigns range from free health screenings to rocketry and engineering projects, all led by students applying classroom knowledge in real-world ways.
“I’m always impressed with the passion students bring to CougStarter,” said Tayler Ekness, assistant director of annual giving. “My role is to guide their efforts and encourage them to keep telling their stories.”
One featured campaign, the Pre-Physician Assistant Club, is raising funds to buy scrubs for students entering clinical settings, reducing financial barriers to their professional training.
Since 2019, CougStarter has helped 97 student clubs raise more than $100,000.
