Clarkston Man Faces Multiple Charges After Alleged Altercation Outside Walmart

CLARKSTON, WA – A Clarkston man was arrested after allegedly attacking another man and spitting on multiple people, including a police officer, outside the Clarkston Walmart on Saturday, according to court documents.

Police say 29-year-old David Alexander Solis was taken into custody on November 1 after officers responded to a report of a fight near the north side of Walmart around 3 p.m. According to an affidavit filed in Asotin County Superior Court, Solis faces charges of third-degree assault, three counts of fourth-degree assault, disorderly conduct, and driving under the influence.

According to police reports, officers arrived to find a group of people arguing and another officer had already detained Solis. Witnesses told police that Solis had parked his black car nearby, exited, and allegedly slapped a sign out of another man’s hands before attempting to hit him.

Two bystanders told investigators they saw the confrontation and ran to intervene. They said Solis appeared intoxicated and had been driving moments before the altercation. Both told police that Solis allegedly spit in their faces, and one reported that Solis allegedly grabbed his genitals during the scuffle.

Another witness told police he saw Solis exit his vehicle, strike a sign out of someone’s hands, and then continue to fight with others after being restrained. Police also spoke to an additional witness who said Solis appeared to have been drinking and acting aggressively before the altercation.

According to court documents, officers located an open Smirnoff alcohol bottle near Solis’ car and an empty case of alcoholic beverages inside. Officers reported that Solis allegedly had slurred speech, droopy eyes, and smelled strongly of alcohol. During his arrest, Solis allegedly spit in an officer’s eye, prompting additional charges for assault on a law enforcement officer.

The affidavit states that Solis was transported to the Asotin County Jail, where he refused both field sobriety and breath tests. Officers said Solis allegedly continued to act aggressively toward jail staff and refused to cooperate during processing.

Police say Solis’ alleged actions resulted in probable cause for DUI and multiple assault charges, including one count of third-degree assault for spitting on an officer, three counts of fourth-degree assault for striking and spitting on bystanders, and disorderly conduct for provoking a public altercation.

Solis was booked into the Asotin County Jail on November 1. According to court records, he remained in custody as of the filing of the affidavit.
