KAMIAH, ID – The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) announced that roads providing access to the Woodrat Mountain block of endowment land will close for the season beginning Wednesday, November 20.
The Maggie Creek Supervisory Area in Kamiah will close entrances at Suttler Creek, Wilson Creek, Harris Ridge, Kidder Ridge, Glenwood Meadows, and Woodrat Mountain. The closures will remain in effect until May 26, 2026, as part of an annual effort to protect the area’s natural resources.
According to IDL, the seasonal restriction helps reduce soil erosion, minimize road damage and maintenance costs, and protect wintering wildlife. The closure applies to unauthorized vehicles wider than 50 inches, though access by ATV, motorcycle, bicycle, or on foot will still be allowed. Exceptions may also be made for authorized resource management or permitted use.
The closure is a cooperative effort between the Idaho Department of Lands and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Both agencies are asking the public to report unauthorized vehicle use in the area.
