KAHLOTUS, WA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close public access across Lower Monumental Lock and Dam on December 1 and 2 to allow maintenance crews to complete scheduled work.
The closure will halt all vehicle and pedestrian traffic across the dam for the two-day period. Officials said the temporary shutdown is necessary to ensure the safety of workers and the public while maintenance is underway.
Regular crossing hours are typically offered once an hour, on the half-hour, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding federal holidays. Travelers seeking alternate options can use public crossings at Lower Granite Lock and Dam or Little Goose Lock and Dam.
More information about dam crossings is available at the Walla Walla District’s website or by calling 1-888-DAM-INFO.
