Idaho County Deputies Arrest Stites Man After K9 Alert Leads to Drug Discovery

KOOSKIA, ID – Idaho County deputies arrested a Stites man Wednesday night after a K9 unit alerted on a vehicle during the service of urgent civil papers, leading to the discovery of cocaine.

According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were attempting to locate a male subject in Kooskia on December 4 when they found him in a pickup off Main Street around 7:20 p.m. As a deputy served the papers, K9 Ripley and his handler arrived and conducted an open-air sniff. Ripley alerted on the vehicle, prompting a search that resulted in the seizure of cocaine.

Christopher McCoy, 29, of Stites, was taken into custody on suspicion of felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

The sheriff’s office said the arrest reflects its ongoing effort to address drug activity and protect public safety on county roadways. Officials emphasized that the charges are allegations and McCoy is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Public court records and custody notifications are available through the Idaho Supreme Court and VINELink.
