Man Arrested Following Dispute and Police Pursuit in Clarkston

CLARKSTON, WA – Tyler L. J. Pedersen, 29, was arrested on Wednesday following a reported dispute. Pedersen faces charges including felony eluding, residential burglary, and second-degree malicious mischief.

According to court documents and the arresting officer’s report, deputies were dispatched on January 6 around 8:28 p.m. after a 911 call reported that Pedersen had allegedly threatened a person and struck a vehicle with a piece of wood.  Pedersen had also allegedly committed the burglary and malicious mischief in relation to the same dispute.

Shortly after the 911 call, an Asotin County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a white Chevrolet S10 pickup believed to be driven by Pedersen and attempted to stop the vehicle. Pedersen allegedly drove recklessly, passed vehicles in oncoming lanes and ran stop signs to elude police. The deputy reported reaching speeds of up to 65 mph on 6th Street during the pursuit.  The pursuit continued until Pedersen reportedly crossed into Idaho.

Pedersen was located and taken into custody the following day in Clarkston.  He was booked into the Asotin County Jail. In an interview, Pedersen allegedly denied using the wooden stick to strike the vehicle or threaten anyone.  He also claimed another individual was driving the vehicle during the pursuit.

Pedersen is expected to make his initial court appearance on Thursday.
