CLARKSTON, WA — Asotin County Department of Emergency Management is asking residents to report damage to homes and businesses caused by a windstorm last December.
According to a press release issued April 28, the county is collecting information as part of an effort to qualify for potential disaster assistance through the Small Business Administration. While a recent presidential disaster declaration did not include FEMA individual assistance for residents, officials say other forms of aid may still be available if enough qualifying damage is documented.
Residents are encouraged to complete an online survey through the county’s emergency services webpage or via a link shared on the department’s social media page. The information will help officials identify properties with significant uninsured losses and support the county’s application for assistance.
Emergency Management Director Nick Bacon said early responses following the storm helped identify urgent needs and strengthened the county’s case for support. He added that continued reporting will guide recovery efforts and improve preparedness for future incidents.
Residents with questions can contact the department directly by phone or email.
