Navy Aircrew Member Treated After Mid-Air Collision During Idaho Air Show

MOUNTAIN HOME, ID — One U.S. Navy aircrew member was treated for a non-life-threatening injury following a mid-air collision involving two EA-18G aircraft during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show near Mountain Home Air Force Base on Sunday.

According to Naval Air Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet, the two aircraft assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 129 from Whidbey Island, Washington, collided around 12:10 p.m. MDT while performing an aerial demonstration.

The four aircrew members aboard the aircraft were part of the Growler Airshow Team and all safely ejected following the collision. Officials said one aircrew member was treated at a local hospital, while the other three were not injured.

“The incident is under investigation, and aircraft recovery efforts have begun,” the Navy said in a statement. “Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our personnel, as well as security of the aircraft during the recovery.”

Emergency responders from multiple local, state and military agencies responded to the scene after the crash sparked a brush fire and prompted temporary road closures near the air base.

The incident remains under investigation.
