PULLMAN, WA — Washington State University has launched a free AgWeatherNet mobile app that provides detailed local weather data from about 370 weather stations across Washington.
The app, available on iOS with an Android version coming soon, updates weather conditions every five minutes and offers site-specific forecasts for both the public and agricultural users.
General users can access current temperatures, forecasts, and air quality information, while growers can use advanced tools including crop water demand forecasts, cattle comfort indexes, spray guidance, and temperature inversion data.
“There’s something for every user in the app,” said AgWeatherNet Director Lav Khot. “We wanted to offer regular weather information that anyo
ne can use and provide deeper data insights that are vital for the agriculture industry.”
The app supports both English and Spanish, allows users to customize weather stations and measurement systems, and does not require a login. WSU said the app does not store personal user data.
WSU officials said the app was designed to make weather information easier and faster to access for Washington residents and the state’s agricultural industry.
