Motionless in White to release new album ‘Decades’

Motionless in White have officially revealed plans for their next studio album, Decades, set to arrive July 17. The release marks the band’s seventh full-length project and follows their 2022 record Scoring the End of the World, continuing a career that has spanned more than two decades.

Frontman Chris Motionless emphasized that the new material leans into a more intense direction. “Decades is definitely heavier than some of our past albums,” he said. “Our current world breeds more aggressive energy, anger, and resistance.”

The album announcement arrives alongside the release of their new single “Playing God,” featuring Slipknot’s Corey Taylor. “I can’t believe how aggressive Corey sounds,” Chris Motionless declares. “It’s an observational commentary on toxic internet culture and the people who perpetuate it. The internet has gotten worse and worse to the point where only negativity, hatred, and lies are at the forefront of everything you see. It’s very frustrating because I thought social media was supposed to be a mechanism to connect, but all it does is divide.”

Decades also includes guest appearances from Skylar Grey, Dark Divine, and Anthony Martinez. Recording sessions took place in both upstate New York and Los Angeles, with Drew Fulk and Justin “JD” deBlieck handling production duties.

Reflecting on the band’s longevity, Chris noted their commitment to staying authentic while continuing to evolve: “We were never afraid to take risks. This band has not only lasted two decades, but we’ve also outlasted all of the obstacles we’ve faced. We’re still grinding. No matter how far we expand the universe that is Motionless In White, we’re going to preserve the heart, soul, and roots of where we came from. We are never going to abandon heartfelt, emotional, and heavy songs. We are never going to abandon what mattered to us the most when we started. We’re finding new ways to emphasize those stories with exciting sounds and looks, but the vision is the same. It’s always been this grand, dramatic, and theatrical entity. I’m proud we haven’t gotten comfortable.”

Currently, the band is performing in arenas as part of a tour with Bring Me the Horizon, including a recent high-energy show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. They’ll soon embark on their own headlining run, the Sweat and Blood Tour, beginning July 14 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The North American trek — their first U.S. headlining tour in nearly three years — will feature support from Lorna Shore, Fit For A King, and Static Dress, with stops in major cities across the country before concluding August 15 in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The tour will also include a milestone performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater, marking the band’s first time headlining the iconic venue. For ticket info head to  Ticketmaster.
