LC State Women’s Golf Finishes 15th at National Tournament

YPSILANTI, MI – The LC State Women’s Golf team earned its highest national finish since 2014 on Friday when the Warriors ended the 2026 NAIA Women’s Golf Championship in 15th place. Isabella Barquet earned a spot in the top 50 and four Warriors placed in the top 75.

“Wasn’t our day today. Conditions were brutal and the course was playing difficult, combined with how we hit it today and the outcome wasn’t great,” coach Zach Anderson explained. “But we finished in the top 15 at the national championship. Extremely proud of this team. It was a joy to share the experience this week with each member of the team. Obviously, they are some pretty good golfers, but that doesn’t compare to the student, friend and individual that each of them are. I’m so proud of them, and their accomplishments and blessed that I get to be their coach.”

The Warrior women finished the tournament with a 100-over-par total through three rounds. SCAD Savannah (Ga.) won the team title with a score of 55-over.

Barquet finished in a tie for 29th after a round of 7-over on Friday. She finished 19-over through three rounds.

Sophomore Jane Barry tied for 51st place overall with an 8-over round to end the season. She carded two birdies to lead that day on the day.

Giulia Belfontali tied for 67th individually. The sophomore carded a 13-over-par final round to finish 28-over in total.

Dallis Shockey capped her collegiate career in a tie for 74th to round out the scoring group for the Warriors. The senior captain shot 16-over in the final round for a 30-over total on the week.

“Thank you to our seniors Dallis Shockey and Myah Parsons for their incredible efforts over the past four and three years, respectively,” Anderson added. “They have done so much to build our women’s program to what it is now.”

Chase Caruso was subbed into the round and shot 26-over in the lone day of action.

The Warrior women accomplished a feat not seen by the program in nine years with their trip to the national tournament. It was the first time LC State made the cut since 2014. The Warrior men also punched their ticket to nationals for the first time since 2017 after winning their first Cascade Conference title to make it a successful year for the program as a whole.

“Thank you to anyone and everyone that has made this year possible for LC State Men’s and Women’s Golf,” Anderson said. “Thanks to my assistant Gordy Gregg for his support this year. They say it takes a village, and ours is second to none. What a way to end the golf season with both teams making it to nationals. Excited for some rest and reflection before gearing up for 2026-27.”
