Two sentenced in Southern Idaho fentanyl trafficking case

POCATELLO, ID — Two individuals have been sentenced to federal prison after being convicted of possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho.

Marcos Gallegos, 43, of Pueblo, Colorado, was sentenced to 188 months in prison, while Morgan Galloway, 25, of Pocatello, received a 60-month sentence. Both were sentenced by U.S. District Judge David C. Nye.

Court records show that on Aug. 22, 2024, probation and parole officers with the Idaho Department of Correction searched an apartment in Pocatello where the two were living after receiving a tip from local police about suspected drug sales. During the search, officers seized approximately 122 grams of fentanyl and a firearm.

Authorities later obtained a warrant to search a storage unit connected to the pair, where they found about $28,000 believed to be drug proceeds.

Gallegos’ federal sentence will run consecutively to two existing seven-year sentences from separate Bannock County drug cases. He will also serve five years of supervised release following his prison term. Galloway was ordered to serve four years of supervised release after completing her sentence.

Both defendants pleaded guilty to the charge in December 2025.

The case was investigated by the Idaho Department of Correction Probation and Parole, the Pocatello Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Blythe McLane.
