WASHINGTON, D.C. — The latest forecast for this summer’s harvest has been released by the National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Washington growers have slightly more acres of winter wheat in the ground this year at 1.8 million. Based on May 1st conditions the yield is predicted to be down slightly at 67 bushels an acre statewide. Production is forecast to come in at 120.6 million bushels down about one million from last year.
Idaho farmers have the same amount of winter wheat planted as last year. Yield is predicted to come in at 97 bushels an acre statewide down slightly from 2025 with production at just under 79 million bushels. That’s down about 1.5 million bushels from last year.
