Old Greer Fire Fully Contained at 78 Acres

GREER, ID — The Old Greer Fire in Lewis County has reached 100% containment, according to the Idaho Department of Lands. The fire, which began the evening of June 25 across the river from Greer, burned a total of 78 acres and was caused by lightning.

Crews will remain on-site to conduct mop-up operations over the next few days. Incident command is transitioning from a Type 3 Incident Management Team to a Type 4 team as fire activity winds down.

Old Greer Grade remains closed during mop-up efforts, but officials confirm that no evacuations are in place and the threat to nearby structures has passed. The fire response included support from the Idaho Department of Lands, U.S. Forest Service, Nez Perce Tribe, and Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association.

Authorities remind the public to follow fire restrictions, safely manage campfires, and take precautions with equipment and vehicles to prevent future wildfires.
