LEWISTON, ID — A Clarkston woman was arrested on July 4 in Lewiston after officers allegedly found over 28 grams of methamphetamine concealed on her during a traffic stop, according to a recently filed police affidavit.
Traci A. Martin, 45, was taken into custody after Lewiston Police conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford Escape in the El Sombrero parking lot around 9:18 p.m. An officer recognized Martin at a nearby gas station and checked for warrants. Police confirmed she had a felony warrant for failure to appear out of Ada County.
After initiating the stop and confirming her identity, the officer arrested Martin on the outstanding warrant. During a search, Martin reportedly admitted to having contraband hidden in her pants and retrieved a plastic bag. The bag contained a crystallized substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police weighed the substance at 28.9 grams. Because the quantity exceeded the 28-gram threshold under Idaho law, the possession charge was upgraded to trafficking in methamphetamine.
Additional items, including two glass pipes with burn residue, were recovered from the vehicle’s center console. Martin allegedly admitted the paraphernalia was hers, resulting in an additional misdemeanor charge for possession of paraphernalia.
Martin was transported to the Nez Perce County Jail. The suspected methamphetamine was submitted to the Idaho State Lab for further testing.
Martin appeared in court on Monday. Bond was set at $70,000.
