LEWISTON, ID – St. Joseph Regional Medical Center has released its annual community benefit report, outlining the hospital’s efforts in 2024 to strengthen healthcare access and support the Lewis-Clark Valley through financial investment, workforce development, and community partnerships.
The report outlines more than $14 million in uncompensated and charitable care provided to patients in need, reflecting the hospital’s mission to serve all individuals regardless of their ability to pay.
In 2024, the hospital continued to expand services by recruiting five affiliated providers and investing over $3.7 million in new medical equipment and infrastructure upgrades. These capital improvements included updates to ICU ventilators, surgical instruments, and a reverse osmosis filtration system.
St. Joseph also remains one of the region’s largest employers, with about 690 staff members. The hospital paid more than $64 million in salaries, benefits, and wages last year. It also invested nearly $130,000 in staff education and training through tuition support and professional development programs.
Beyond healthcare services, St. Joseph contributed over $6 million in taxes and supported a broad range of community organizations and events, including local schools, food banks, youth programs, and civic groups throughout the LC Valley.
“We’re committed to more than just medical care,” said CEO Ed Freysinger. “This report reflects our role as a healthcare provider, an employer, and a partner in building a healthier and stronger community.”
