15-Year-Old Driver Faces Multiple Charges After Spokane Valley Crash Injures Juvenile Passengers

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA – A 15-year-old suspected of driving under the influence is facing several charges following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning that left two other juveniles injured.

Spokane Valley Deputies responded around 1:15 a.m. on July 19 to the area of E. Mission Avenue and N. Bowdish Road after several callers reported a vehicle crashing into a tree and three individuals fleeing the scene.

Deputies located two male juveniles and one female juvenile east of the crash site near N. Union Road. One of the males attempted to run but was caught shortly after a brief foot chase. Investigators later determined he was the driver of the Jeep SUV that left the road and struck a large tree while traveling north on Bowdish.

All three juveniles were taken to a hospital. The driver and male passenger—both of whom showed signs of impairment—were medically cleared. The female passenger remained hospitalized with what authorities described as a serious but non-life-threatening injury.

A search warrant was obtained for a blood sample from the driver, which was secured as evidence for further testing. He was later booked into Spokane County Juvenile Detention on charges of vehicular assault, hit and run with injury, obstructing law enforcement, and driving without a license.

The male passenger, also 15, was booked for minor in possession of alcohol. The female was released to a parent after receiving medical attention.

Deputies believe impairment and speed were contributing factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
