LAPWAI, ID – On August 10, 2025, a Nez Perce Tribal Police officer conducted a routine patrol along U.S. Highway 12 in Orofino, which led to the arrest of a 56-year-old man. The officer observed a 2005 Cadillac with a cracked windshield and ran a check on the vehicle’s registration. The search revealed that the driver, identified as Roger Jorgenson, had an active warrant out for his arrest in Nez Perce County.

The officer confirmed Jorgenson’s identity through a physical description provided by dispatch and proceeded to make a traffic stop in the Hayes Food parking lot. During the stop, Jorgenson consented to a search of the vehicle. Officers recovered a trafficking amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, Jorgenson was arrested on multiple charges, including the Nez Perce County warrant, felony possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Nez Perce Tribal Police Department extended its thanks to the Orofino Police Department and the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the case.

As always, the Nez Perce Tribal Police remind the public that all individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The charges listed reflect the allegations made at the time of Jorgenson’s arrest.
