Argument Between Friends Leads to Shooting, Arrest in Pend Oreille County

NEWPORT, WA – A Newport woman was arrested after a reported shooting left another woman injured in Pend Oreille County on Friday evening.

According to the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5:50 p.m. on September 12 to the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Stohr Road after neighbors reported hearing two women arguing, followed by gunfire.

Deputies located 40-year-old Adelaide T. McGillis of Newport with a gunshot wound. McGillis told deputies she had been shot by her 28-year-old friend, Tyran R. Graham, also of Newport.

McGillis was airlifted by Life Flight to a regional trauma center for treatment and was later released. Graham was arrested for assault in the first degree and booked into the Pend Oreille County Jail in Newport.

The sheriff’s office said the case remains under investigation and no further details are being released at this time.
