Nez Perce Tribal Police Arrest Lapwai Man in Child Exploitation Investigation

LAPWAI, ID – The Nez Perce Tribal Police Department has arrested an 18-year-old Lapwai-area man in connection with an ongoing child exploitation case, following reports of inappropriate conduct that surfaced at a local school.

Laricci S. George-Smith was taken into custody on November 5, 2025, and is facing preliminary charges of Sexual Molestation of a Minor under the Age of 16 and Enticement of a Child.

According to a press release issued by the department, the investigation began after reports were made about alleged grooming behavior and inappropriate contact involving a minor. Detectives believe other individuals may have been contacted or approached under similar circumstances.

“We take these matters very seriously,” said Chief Mark Bensen of the Nez Perce Tribal Police Department. “Our priority is the safety and well-being of our children and our community. We encourage anyone who has information or has been affected to come forward.”
