CLARKSTON, WA — A man was arrested this week on warrants related to two separate 2023 theft incidents at Walmart in Clarkston.
According to court documents, 52-year-old John Wayne Meacham was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 7, and has been charged with two counts of burglary in the second degree and two counts of theft in the third degree. Police say Meacham unlawfully entered the Clarkston Walmart store on 5th Street on two different occasions and left with merchandise without paying.
The first alleged incident occurred on September 11, 2023. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Meacham entering the store around 9:20 p.m., proceeding directly to the infant section, and allegedly exiting with a baby monitor valued at $179.00 – without making any attempt to pay.
The second incident took place just two days later. Video footage and internal reports indicate that Meacham allegedly entered the store shortly after 9:19 p.m., walked through multiple departments, and exited the store around 9:25 p.m. carrying another baby monitor and a bottle of Equate 91% isopropyl alcohol. The total value of the items taken during this incident was $152.98.
In both cases, Walmart personnel documented the incidents and reviewed surveillance footage. Since Meacham was previously trespassed from all Walmart locations following a theft arrest in 2020, he is being charged with burglary. Law enforcement had attempted to locate Meacham immediately after the incidents in 2023 but reports indicate he was homeless and had no fixed address. A warrant was issued for his arrest a short time later.
Meacham was located Wednesday, arrested and booked into the Asotin County Jail.
