ATHOL, ID — Idaho State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred early Monday morning on U.S. Highway 95, north of Athol.
According to ISP, troopers responded at about 7:58 a.m. on Feb. 2 to reports of a rollover crash at milepost 451 on southbound U.S. 95. The vehicle, a 1994 Jeep Wrangler, was driven by a 79-year-old man.
The driver was transported by ambulance to Kootenai Health, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released. Next of kin has been notified.
Both southbound lanes of U.S. 95 were closed for approximately 10 minutes following the crash. One lane later reopened, and the roadway was fully reopened about two hours later.
ISP thanked the Idaho Transportation Department for assistance with traffic control and Timberlake Fire for medical response. The crash remains under investigation.
