CLARKSTON, WA – The Asotin County Board of Commissioners will host a public town hall meeting on Wednesday, June 25, to engage residents on key community topics, including a proposed sales tax to support emergency communication services.
The meeting will feature a presentation from the Emergency Communications Advisory Committee, which is recommending a one-tenth of one percent sales tax. If approved by voters, the tax would be used exclusively to fund emergency communications throughout Asotin County. State law allows counties to propose such taxes to support critical public safety infrastructure.
The Advisory Committee includes representatives from county and city law enforcement, fire departments, and the Asotin County Department of Emergency Management.
In addition to the emergency communications proposal, the town hall will address other major initiatives, including the Alliance for the Unhoused’s proposal to purchase property for a new sleep center and updates on the Justice Complex project in Clarkston Heights.
Details of the Town Hall:
- Date: Wednesday, June 25
- Time: 5:30 p.m.
- Location: Asotin County Fire District #1, 2377 Appleside Blvd, Clarkston, WA
