WSU Fraternity Loses Recognition This Fall For Hazing Students Last Spring

PULLMAN, WA – A Washington State University fraternity has lost its recognition for the fall semester for hazing.

According to updated information posted on the WSU website the Gamma Iota Omicron fraternity hazed new members last spring. The report states that the fraternity required new members to carry specified items.

They were also blindfolded and taken to undisclosed locations where they experienced severe verbal confrontations. The Gamma Iota Omicron fraternity is also on probation through the upcoming spring semester. Members must also take anti hazing classes.

WSU is required by state law to publicly report allegations of Greek Row violations online. The requirement is part of “Sam’s Law” which was crafted after the death of WSU student Sam Martinez who died in 2019 of alcohol poisoning following an Alpha Tau Omega party.
