LEWISTON, ID — The Lewiston Fire Department is reminding residents that open burning of waste materials is not allowed within city limits as spring cleanup season gets underway.
Officials said burning garbage, construction materials, leaves, brush and grass clippings is prohibited. The reminder comes as warmer weather prompts yard work and outdoor cleanup across the area.
Residents are encouraged to use local disposal options instead. Household garbage and construction materials can be taken to the city’s transfer station, while yard waste can be dropped off at a designated composting site. Both services are available to city residents at no additional charge.
Commercial customers are advised to contact the city’s Public Works Department for guidance on proper disposal procedures.
