BOISE, ID — Idaho Fish and Game is asking anglers to report tagged fish catches to help biologists better manage fisheries across the state.
According to Idaho Fish and Game, fisheries biologists use “t-bar anchor tags” on fish in rivers, lakes and ponds to track catch rates, fish survival and migration patterns. The information gathered from anglers helps guide fish stocking efforts and bag limit decisions.

Each tag includes a unique identification number and instructions for reporting the catch online at tag.idaho.gov or through a regional Fish and Game office. Some fish may also carry reward tags worth between $25 and $200.
Idaho Fish and Game officials said the Tag, You’re It program has been used since the mid-2000s and remains an important tool in fisheries management statewide.
