KOOSKIA, ID – Two people were arrested late Thursday night after a traffic stop in the Kooskia area led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 11:40 p.m. on August 7, an Idaho County deputy on routine patrol observed a vehicle on Main Street that was unable to maintain its lane. After initiating a traffic stop, K9 Rip was deployed and alerted on the vehicle. A search revealed methamphetamine and paraphernalia inside.
The driver, identified as 47-year-old Tara Russum, was taken into custody for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. Passenger John Garcia, 67, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor criminal contempt, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
Both individuals were booked into jail. Authorities note that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
