TEKOA, WA — A Tekoa man was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly stabbing his father during a domestic dispute, according to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded just after 10 a.m. Saturday to a reported stabbing at a home in the 600 block of North Jackson Street in Tekoa.
Investigators said the victim told deputies his 25-year-old son, Aaron “AJ” Harp, asked for a ride to the store around 9 a.m. to buy alcohol and cigarettes. After the request was denied, Harp allegedly pulled out a knife, pushed his father against a door, and stabbed him in the back.
According to the sheriff’s office, Harp later admitted to stabbing his father once with a black and gray spring-assisted knife, reportedly telling deputies he attacked him because he would not take him to the store.
Harp was booked into the Whitman County Jail on a charge of second-degree assault domestic violence. Bail was set at $150,000.
The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from his injuries.
