SAGLE, ID — Two people were killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash Sunday afternoon on U.S. Highway 95 near Sagle in North Idaho, according to the Idaho State Police.
The crash happened at approximately 1:25 p.m. on May 25 near milepost 469 in Bonner County. Investigators said an 18-year-old Sandpoint man was driving a red 2011 Buick LaCrosse southbound when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a northbound 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by a 65-year-old Sandpoint man.
The driver of the Buick and his passenger, a 48-year-old Sandpoint man, died at the scene, ISP said. The two occupants of the Dodge Ram were transported to a local hospital, with one taken by ground ambulance and the other flown by air ambulance.
Authorities said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt. U.S. Highway 95 was intermittently blocked for about three hours while emergency crews responded and investigators processed the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Idaho State Police. Names of those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
