Dawn Daniels to Be Sworn In as New WSU Police Chief Aug. 15

 

PULLMAN, WA – Dawn Daniels will be formally sworn in as the new chief of the Washington State University Police Department on Friday, Aug. 15. The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. in the Holland and Terrell Libraries Atrium on the WSU Pullman campus, with WSU President Elizabeth Cantwell officiating.

Daniels began her career with the department in 1998 as a community liaison officer, focusing on student engagement and education in residence halls. Over the years, she has held positions including administrative sergeant and firearms instructor, and was named assistant chief in 2022.

The event will also introduce incoming Assistant Chief Harry Smith to the WSU community. Outgoing Chief Gary Jenkins, who has served in the role since 2022 and is concluding a four-decade career in law enforcement, will be recognized for his service.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which is part of WSU Pullman’s Week of Welcome activities.
