Whitman County Sheriff’s Office Receives $15,000 Local Heroes Grant from Gesa Credit Union

COLFAX, WA — The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded $15,000 through Gesa Credit Union’s Local Heroes Grant Program, funds that will be used to update and replace personal protective equipment for deputies during high-risk operations.

The Gesa Community Foundation selected Whitman County as one of 52 organizations across the Pacific Northwest to receive a portion of more than half a million dollars distributed this year.

Gesa’s Local Heroes Grant Program supports groups that serve or represent first responders, educators, healthcare professionals, and veterans. Since its creation in 2021, the program has provided over $2 million in grants to more than 200 organizations.

Sergeant Chris Olin of the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation for the support, noting that the funding will strengthen safety measures and operational readiness for deputies.
