Woman accused of burglary, attempted robbery and bringing meth into Nez Perce County Jail

LEWISTON, ID — A woman is facing multiple felony charges after Lewiston police alleged she was connected to a burglary investigation, an attempted robbery, and the discovery of methamphetamine while being booked into the Nez Perce County Jail.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday in Nez Perce County District Court, 40-year-old Samantha K. Oliver was arrested May 13 following an investigation by the Lewiston Police Department.

Police said officers contacted Oliver and another individual near the 500 block of Main Street around 6:30 a.m. while investigating reports of stolen property.

According to court documents, officers initially planned to issue misdemeanor citations. However, police allege Oliver attempted to walk away after being read her Miranda rights and then ran before tripping on the sidewalk and being taken into custody.

Investigators reported finding a wallet in Oliver’s possession containing cash, a debit card, and an Idaho Quest card belonging to another person.

Police later contacted the alleged victim, who reported his phone, wallet, and car keys had been stolen from his Adams Lane apartment overnight. Court documents state the man also reported signs someone had been inside the apartment, including a space heater that had been turned on and personal belongings that appeared to have been moved.

While Oliver was being processed at the Nez Perce County Jail, deputies allegedly discovered two baggies containing substances that tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine concealed on her person, according to the affidavit.

Investigators also linked Oliver to a reported attempted robbery that occurred around 6:50 a.m. near the 600 to 700 block of Main Street. According to court records, a driver told police a woman ran into the roadway, jumped onto the hood of his vehicle, opened the driver’s door, and attempted to pull him from the car before he drove away.

Oliver was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail on allegations of burglary, two counts of grand theft by receiving or possessing stolen property, attempted robbery, introduction of major contraband into a correctional facility, and possession of a controlled substance.
