COLFAX, WA — A St. John School District employee was arrested over the weekend following an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship involving a student, according to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials said deputies received information about the alleged relationship and launched an investigation. Following the initial inquiry, investigators said they developed probable cause supporting the allegations.

Authorities identified the employee as 25-year-old Mackenzie Naught. Naught was taken into custody Sunday, May 10, and charged with Sexual Misconduct with a Minor in the First Degree.

The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing and noted that all parties involved are cooperating with investigators.

Naught was expected to make a first appearance Monday in Whitman County Superior Court.
