COLFAX, WA – The 24 year old former Washington State University student convicted of raping a female student inside his Pullman apartment has been sentenced to the maximum one year in jail.
Isaac Andrade was found guilty of felony 3rd degree rape by a Whitman County Superior Court Jury during his trial in May. Andrade raped the woman in November of 2023. He met his victim at a fraternity party at WSU and raped her at his residence when they left the party to watch a movie. The woman ran to a neighboring apartment for help right after the rape.
The standard sentencing range in this case is between 6 and 12 months in jail because Andrade has no previous criminal history. The prosecutor’s office, victim and her family asked for the maximum sentence. Andrade’s private defense attorney asked for the bottom of the range 6 months in jail.
Judge Roger Sandberg agreed with the victim ruling that her request was reasonable and sentenced Andrade to the maximum year in jail and placed him immediately into custody. Judge Sandberg also placed Andrade on probation for a year, required him to register as a sex offender for 10 years and pay restitution. Andrade’s attorney told the court that he will be appealing the jury conviction.
