Asotin County Fire District #1 Handles Multiple Emergency Calls in Busy Summer Week

ASOTIN, WA – Asotin County Fire District #1 crews responded to several emergency incidents this week.

On Wednesday afternoon, fire and rescue teams were dispatched to a two-vehicle rear-end collision on 5th Street just north of the Southway Bridge. Lewiston Ambulance personnel also responded. Four people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Early Thursday morning, crews were called to Asotin Creek Road west of Asotin after a vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in the creek. The driver is believed to have experienced a medical issue that may have contributed to the crash. Responding agencies included Asotin County Fire District #1, the City of Asotin, and Lewiston.

Later that same day, emergency personnel responded to the Snake River west of Clarkston where a boat struck rocks near the shoreline. No injuries were reported in the boating incident.

Fire Chief Noel Hardin said summer is typically the busiest time for emergency services in the region. “With more people out recreating and the constant risk of wildland fires, our crews stay extremely busy throughout the valley,” Hardin said. “Emergency Medical Services (EMS) remains the most utilized service we provide.”
