ASOTIN, WA – The Asotin County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that callers are spoofing the Asotin County Commissioner’s phone line, making it appear as though calls are coming from the Commissioner’s official number.
Authorities are warning residents not to provide personal or financial information over the phone and to be cautious, as caller ID can be manipulated. If you receive such a call, hang up and verify by contacting the county office directly using the number listed on the official website or email.
Residents are encouraged to report spoofed calls to their phone carrier and local law enforcement. Call details, including the time, displayed number, and any voicemail, should be saved. Reports can also be filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
