WORLEY, ID – Two teenage boys from Spokane Valley were injured early Thursday morning after crashing a vehicle that fled from tribal police in northern Idaho, according to the Idaho State Police.
At approximately 6:03 a.m. on November 6, Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police attempted to stop a 2018 BMW 440 that was traveling at a high rate of speed on U.S. Highway 95 north of Worley. When officers tried to pull the vehicle over, it fled southbound. The pursuit was discontinued shortly afterward due to the excessive speed.
A few minutes later, reports came in of a crash involving the same vehicle in Worley. The car left the roadway and collided with the Worley Liquor Store before catching fire in the parking lot. Responding officers were able to extinguish the flames enough to remove both occupants from the burning vehicle.
Both occupants—identified as juvenile males from Spokane Valley—were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to Idaho State Police, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, while the passenger was restrained.
The Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police are conducting the criminal investigation, while Idaho State Police are handling the crash investigation.
